Transform Your Smile With Dental Veneers at our Barnet, Rochester or Ashford clinics

Veneers are mostly placed for cosmetic reasons to improve the colour, shape and position of teeth. Veneers are both strong and can fix minor dental issues and provide you with the smile that you always wanted.

Veneers are generally used to solve issues relating to stained, chipped or crooked teeth and, in some cases, to align slightly misaligned teeth when patients do not want to have orthodontic treatment.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are actually created outside the patient’s mouth in a laboratory by a ceramist.

The ceramist will have the right amount of time to provide High-Quality work and make all the important changes to give you an amazing smile you want. Porcelain Veneers also last longer.

What problems do porcelain veneers fix?

Porcelain veneers are an excellent solution for a variety of dental issues that affect the appearance of your teeth. They are custom-made, wafer-thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth to improve their aesthetic appearance. One of the primary problems that porcelain veneers fix is discoloured or stained teeth. Teeth can become discoloured due to various reasons such as age, smoking, certain medications, or excessive consumption of staining foods and beverages like coffee, tea, or wine. Veneers provide a long-lasting and natural-looking solution for restoring the brightness of your smile.

In addition to discolouration, porcelain veneers can also rectify the appearance of chipped or cracked teeth. They help to improve the overall shape and size of the teeth and provide a smooth and even appearance. Moreover, veneers can be used to close gaps between teeth, creating a more uniform smile. For patients with mildly misaligned or crooked teeth, porcelain veneers offer an alternative to orthodontic treatments such as braces. They can effectively cover these imperfections, providing a straight and symmetrical appearance to your teeth without the need for extensive dental procedures.

What is the difference between porcelain veneers and composite veneers?

Porcelain veneers and composite veneers both serve the purpose of improving the appearance of teeth; however, there are some key differences between the two. The primary difference lies in the material used. Porcelain veneers are made of a thin layer of porcelain, whereas composite veneers are made of composite resin, a tooth-coloured filling material.

Porcelain veneers tend to be more durable and stain-resistant than composite veneers. They also have a more natural and translucent appearance, closely mimicking the look of natural teeth. This is because the light reflects off the porcelain material similarly to how it reflects off the enamel of natural teeth. On the other hand, composite veneers may be more prone to staining and chipping over time, and may require more frequent replacement or repair.

Another notable difference is the cost and treatment time involved. Porcelain veneers are generally more expensive than composite veneers, as they require more time and expertise to create and place. Composite veneers can be applied in a single dental visit, while porcelain veneers typically require at least two appointments, as the veneers need to be custom-fabricated in a dental laboratory.

What is the process of getting veneers?

The process of getting veneers involves several steps, typically spanning over two to three dental appointments. The first appointment involves a consultation with your dentist to discuss your desired outcomes, evaluate your dental health, and determine if veneers are the right option for you.

During the next appointment, your dentist will prepare your teeth for the veneers. This involves removing a small amount of enamel from the tooth surface to create space for the veneers. An impression of your teeth is then taken, which is sent to a dental laboratory to fabricate the custom veneers. In some cases, your dentist may place temporary veneers on your teeth to protect them while you wait for the permanent ones to be made. Temporary veneers are made of acrylic material and are used to maintain the appearance and functionality of your teeth in the interim.

Once your permanent veneers are ready, you will return for a final appointment. Your dentist will remove the temporary veneers, clean your teeth thoroughly, and then check the fit and color of the permanent veneers. If everything is satisfactory, the veneers will be bonded to your teeth using a dental adhesive, and any final adjustments will be made. Finally, the veneers will be polished to ensure a smooth and natural appearance, leaving you with a beautiful, transformed smile.
